The parade begins at 11am and ends at 6pm. Popular singer Wyclef Jean will join six other grand marshals on September 6, to kick-off the official parade of floats down Eastern Parkway. They
include Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Congressman Charles Rangel,
Senator Charles Schumer, Dr. Edison O. Jackson, president of Medgar Evers
College and Dennis Walcott, NYC Deputy Mayor.Seventy floats and thousands of colorful masqueraders are expected to follow. Hundreds of dedicated volunteers & sponsors make Brooklyn Carnival happen as a celebration and gift to the community. Get ready to enjoy yourself. |

Music in Postwar Americaat Brooklyn College Library, Curated by Ray Funk and Stephen Stuempfle, the display
of more than 100 archival materials includes rare
photographs, sheet music, songbooks, album covers and movie posters
never before exhibited together, including a "Calypso Music in Postwar America," which is
free and open to the public, is on display at the library's Central Branch
at Grand Army Plaza through Sept. 26. |
